February 20th, 2003 Thanks to Meaghan for this submission I first met Katie in August of 2000, but I didn't get a picture with her, and that story is REALLY long, so I decided not to write about that. But I was in Wilmington last week on spring break, and I got the chance to meet Katie again. We were driving down the road heading to the beach, and I noticed the car driving next to us had a Screen Gems tag hanging from their rear view window. My best friend Angela, who has no shame, leaned across the car and started talking to the guy driving down the highway. She jokingly said, "get us on the set of dawson's creek!" and the guy laughed, but then she asked were they were filming and he told us down on front street at 4:30. We got there a little late (we were shopping to get clothes to be extras the next day) and we saw a lot of traffic so we figured they were filming outside and had stoppped traffic, so we parked. But when we got out there, we learned that it was a bank robbery, not filming! So we got back in the car and found them filming at the other end of Front Street. Right when we walked up Katie was leaving rehearsal, and meeting with another fan. I asked her to sign my cosmo with her on the cover, and I got a picture with her. Then, I gave her this tape I made that was a music video with different Katie clips about how much she has influenced me and how she is one of my role models. She looked kind of suprised about it, but she smiled and thanked me for it, then headed off. We hung out for a few hours, waiting for them to come back and then watching them film. About 4 hours later, Katie and Oliver were taking a break from filming, and were hanging out infront of the craft service table. They were talking, and then both of them looked over at me and my friend. We both looked behind us like, "are they looking at us?" But then they started walking over towards us. I got Oliver's autograph, and then I asked Katie to sign something else. She did, and then she told me that she watched my video and she really liked it. she thanked me for making it, and told me it was nice, and then I got another picture with her. After that, both Katie and Oliver left and went back to filming, and we watched for about another 15 minutes before deciding to leave as well, since we had been there for about 5 hours, it was freezing, we had to get up the next morning to be extras, and my sister and her roommate were waiting for us in the car. But the next day I was talking to one of the crew guys, Nick, and he told me that if Katie was smiling and you could see her teeth, I was really lucky, because she usually doesn't. Which is cool, because the picture I had from earlier in the day she didn't smile like that, and she didn't for either of the pictures my friend had with her.
