April 23rd, 2003 Thanks to Jasmine for this submission: Hello Katie Holmes Fans! My name is Jasmine, I'm 19 years old, I'm from Montreal, Canada and I LOVE your website! Katie Holmes is an exceptional actress and I had the privilege to meet with her today, April 22nd 2003! As I've noticed you have already all heard the news from someone else who lives in Montreal that Katie was in Montreal's "Paris-look-alike area" today shooting scenes for one of the last episodes of Dawson's Creek and as soon as I heard about it I jumped in my van, picked up my friend Nick and headed to the Old Port of Montreal, twenty minutes away from my house.Well, when we got there we had just missed them! They had finished shooting at the place I had heard they would be but instead of getting bummed out we thought of solutions because I really wanted to meet her. So, we looked around for people who might know something until we found a guy who was putting up a parking sign on a post. He was putting back a sign they had taken down so it would not to be in a shot. So, we went to him and asked if he knew anything about the shooting. He said that they had just left and were headed further west to shoot one last scene. YAY! We freaked out, jumped back in the van and drove off like lightning! The thing about Old Montreal is that it's almost all one-ways everywhere, which gets really very annoying when you are trying to find a tiny subtle street where there could possibly be a show shooting. Know what I mean? So, anyway, here we are driving like mad people, looking in every direction and trying to spot something. Nick, all of a sudden, spots something and yells at me to turn but I am going too fast and can't turn and the streets are too tight to even attempt a maneuver, so I go straight up, turn at the next street to find what? You guessed it! A one-way going the opposite way than the one I want! ARGGG! I am getting annoyed but I am now more determined than ever to find my way and fast! I turn right, left, go up a street and down and finally get to that street we had spotted! I turn, park anywhere I can (I ended up parking next to a no-parking sign like the one "Synergy' posted on the website! How ironic!) and get out of the van. We walk up the street past a woman and barricades blocking the entrance to the street to cars but letting us through. We walk a little more on the right hand side sidewalk and then stop when we get next to a bunch of people. A man asks us what we are looking for and we tell him that we are just looking around so he says to us "Cross the street and you'll see better." So we do. On the other side, we walk slowly and all of a sudden hear "Standing By!"...at that point I am totally freaking out...then again yelling, "and Action!" I turn around to smile to Nick and as my head is turning to him I look across the street and see Katie Holmes walking up the sidewalk (where we were previously standing and told to cross the street! And it's a good thing because had we stayed on her side of the street we would not have seen anything!). I suddenly blurt out "It's Katie Holmes!!!" while pointing at her! Nick hits me on the shoulder and I cover my mouth with my hands and hope I didn't mess up the scene. In my head though, I was jumping of joy and screaming! "Cut!" The scene is finished and so is the day of shooting in Montreal! We got there just in time to see that one last scene being shot. All the extras start walking away and I can't stop staring at Katie because I am too nervous and shy to walk up to her. She talks to a few people. All of a sudden my friend taps me on the shoulder and says "Look to your left, it's Chris Klein!" I turn around and see him standing there. Oh my God! Not one Star but two!!! This is nuts! It is really cool! Finally I push myself to go up to her because I may never get the chance again in my life. I get to her and say nicely "Hi! I am a huge fan of yours and I was wondering if I could maybe take a picture with you?" She looks at me with her cute way and says "Sure!" We stand next to each other and she puts her arm around my back and so I do the same to her and Nick takes the picture. I turn to her and say "Thank you so much!" to which she responds "You're welcome" She walks away to see her boyfriend and they get into a van and leave. I turn around to my friend and start jumping up and down and I am completely ecstatic at that point! I cannot believe I just saw Katie Holmes. I guess you can say I was totally star-struck because I really was. She is tall and beautiful and looks so sophisticated...she is very unlike Joey Potter in many ways, at least that's what I found. But also very similar to her in other ways. I had the greatest adventure on April 22 2003 and I will always remember it! Also, I am very very glad my friend Nick was with me during all of this to share it all with me because alone it would not have been the same! Jasmine
